Our Pacific Office

FAQS

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about offshore staffing with Our Pacific Office — covering costs, time zones, language, contracts and getting started.

Costs & Pricing

How much does it cost to hire an offshore team member through Our Pacific Office?

Costs vary depending on the role, experience level and hours. A typical full-time offshore team member in Fiji costs 60–70% less than the equivalent Australian hire. For a detailed breakdown by role, see our salary guide.

What is included in the monthly fee?

The monthly fee covers your team member's salary, all in-country employment obligations (including statutory contributions and entitlements), workstation and IT setup in our Nadi office, HR management and ongoing operational support from our team.

Are there any setup or onboarding fees?

We are transparent about all costs upfront. Any one-off setup costs are clearly outlined before you commit. There are no hidden fees.

Can I start with one team member and scale up?

Yes. Most clients start with one role and expand as confidence grows. There is no minimum team size — one dedicated team member is a perfectly viable starting point.

Time Zones & Communication

What time zone does Fiji operate in?

Fiji Standard Time (FJT) is UTC+12, which puts it just 2 hours ahead of Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST). Your Fiji team member can work your standard business hours and be available for morning standups, team calls and ad-hoc communication throughout the day.

Can my offshore team member attend our video meetings?

Yes. Fiji's time zone alignment with Australia makes real-time collaboration straightforward. Most clients include their offshore team members in regular team meetings, Zoom calls and Slack channels without any adjustment to meeting schedules.

What communication tools do they use?

Your team member uses whatever tools your business uses — Slack, Teams, Zoom, Google Workspace, email and so on. We set up their workstation in our Nadi office to meet your tech requirements.

The People

How good is the English in Fiji?

English is one of Fiji's three official languages and is the primary language of business and education. Fijian English is clear, warm and consistently well-received by Australian customers and colleagues. It offers a genuine voice quality advantage over many other offshore destinations.

Are the team members dedicated to my business only?

Yes. This is not a shared-resource or call centre model. Your team member works exclusively for your business. They are not split across multiple clients or shared with another account at any point.

What if I am not happy with the person placed?

We stand behind our placements. If a placement is not working out, we work closely with you to understand the issue and resolve it — whether that means additional coaching, performance management support, or beginning a replacement search.

Are they full-time employees or contractors?

Your team member is employed full-time through Our Pacific Office in Fiji. From your perspective, you have a dedicated full-time resource with all relevant entitlements and protections.

Contracts & Commitment

Is there a minimum contract length?

We discuss contract terms upfront. We prefer relationships built on performance, not lock-in — but like any employment arrangement, some reasonable notice periods apply.

Do I need to set up a company in Fiji?

No. Your team member is employed through Our Pacific Office. You do not need to establish any local entity, register with Fijian authorities or manage in-country HR and payroll directly. We handle all of that.

What happens if my business needs change?

We are flexible. If your role requirements change, we work with you to adjust the brief, upskill the team member or modify the arrangement. If you need to end the engagement, we manage the process professionally and in compliance with Fijian employment law.

Data Security

How do you protect our business data?

Your team member works from a managed workstation in our Nadi office. We can implement data access controls, restricted browsing policies, VPN requirements and other security configurations to match your business requirements.

Can my team member sign an NDA?

Yes. Confidentiality agreements and NDAs are standard practice and can be incorporated into the employment documentation for your team member.
